Venue and Location

The Drone Cultures Symposium will be held over two days from April 30th to May 1st, 2020. It will take place in the Esme Timbery Creative Practice Lab (building D8) on the University of New South Wales’ Kensington Campus.

Enter the campus via Gate 2, High Street and turn right at the roundabout. The Esme Timbery Creative Practice Lab is the building immediately to your left, under the large concrete steps. The entrance is opposite the University Terraces Carpark.

The Symposium will take place downstairs, on the basement level of the Creative Practice Lab.


Keynote lectures and video installations will be held in the IO Myers theatre. Panels will take place within Creative Practice Lab’s conference room.


Lunch, morning, and afternoon teas will be held in the main foyer.

Getting to the UNSW Kensington Campus

 For Bus and light rail routes are pre-pay only, and you will need an Opal card. Opal cards can be purchased at stations, selected retailers or online. 

To reach the UNSW Kensington campus from Central Station, the 891 UNSW Express Bus runs from Eddy Avenue, Stand D. It stops at Gate 8, and Gate 3, High St.

Other key bus services to UNSW include the M10 (Leichhardt to Maroubra Junction), M50 (Drummoyne to Coogee), 370 (Leichhardt to Coogee) and 400 (Burwood to Bondi Junction).

To return to Central from UNSW, take bus 898 (departing from Gate 8) or 893

(departing from Gate 3).

Key bus services from UNSW to the City, including Circular Quay Station, are buses 399 and 392.

There is very limited parking in the Gate 2 area around the Creative Practice Lab. During the day, paid parking is available opposite our entrance beneath the University Terraces.

Free parking is available from 6:30pm in the car park next to NIDA, accessed through Day Ave. There are loading zones around the Gate 2 area.
